Hoivarakentajat, Norlandia Daycare and Kindergarten Centers, and Aberia have agreed to build three daycare centers and one service home for people with developmental disabilities in Finland during 2025–2026. The four log buildings will have a combined floor area of nearly 4,400 m2 and a value of approximately €16 million.

The construction of log daycare centers for Norlandia is scheduled to begin in 2025 in Kurttila, Espoo, Rahola, Tampere, and Kangasala. The projects are expected to be completed in autumn 2026.

In addition, Aberia's first service home for residents with developmental disabilities in Finland will be built in Mikkeli. The building has been designed specifically for this group of residents. The energy-efficient property will be equipped with geothermal heating and a solar power plant. The Mikkeli property will also be built from domestic logs and will be completed in autumn 2026.

Close cooperation accelerates the growth of the service network

Norlandia Daycare Centers and Aberia are part of the Norlandia Health & Care Group.

– We are expanding our operations in Finland in various sectors, and our partnership with Hoivarakentajat is an important part of our growth strategy. We work closely together on project development. We value Hoivarakentajat's expertise in log construction and our easy and smooth cooperation, says Olli Lehtisalo, Division CEO of the NHC Group.

– The appeal of the log daycare center comes from its high-quality construction and an environment that supports children's well-being. It is important to our customers that children can enjoy their daycare routine in clean indoor air and surrounded by natural materials. In addition, log construction creates an aesthetically and acoustically peaceful and safe atmosphere that is conducive to playing, learning, and growing. Our growing daycare network shows that our municipal partners also want to invest in healthy and sustainable early childhood education, says Miia Kollin, Country Manager at Norlandia Daycare Centers.

– We want Aberia's first service home for residents with developmental disabilities to offer them the best possible living environment. The log building, which is gentle on the senses, will be a home where they can feel comfortable. By planning together, we have found solutions that work in everyday life and also delight the staff of the new unit, says Mira Ruusunen, Aberia's Business Director.

– We are very pleased that this large-scale project is now getting underway. Our partnership with NHC Group, which began a couple of years ago, continued with the search for suitable plots and joint participation in plot competitions. We also worked closely together to design log buildings that meet the needs of users, says Hoivarakentajat's project development manager Jussi-Pekka Salmi.

The collaboration between Hoivarakentajat and NHC Group began in 2023. Their first joint construction project was the Norlandia Into log daycare center in Joensuu, which was completed in August 2024. The daycare center, which focuses on exercise and nature, has space for five groups. The building also has an exceptionally large multi-purpose space for activities such as exercise, performances, and evening use.
