Lauri Rantanen - Finance Director at Hoivarakentajat

Lauri Rantanen, who started as the Finance Director at Hoivarakentajat, believes that openness and close cooperation between owners, users and the building developer is key to meeting the stagnant and continuously growing need for care and service buildings.

Lauri, who joined Hoivarakentajat from YIT, has extensive experience in real estate transactions, investments, project development, and acquisitions. After the first few months, Lauri is convinced and impressed by Hoivarakentajat's product and way of working:

– Our modern log properties already represent the future of care building. They are ideally suited to the needs of social and healthcare housing, and meet the wishes of investors. I am also delighted that we have a knowledgeable, skilled and nice team throughout the organisation.

Cooperation between investors, builders and users of care buildings

– Our adaptable log care homes are a top product from a sustainability perspective. It is a real pleasure to present them to investors and partners.

According to Lauri, knowing how the real estate markets work is a good basis for deepening cooperation with real estate investors, but it also benefits other parties. A deep understanding and matching of the needs and wishes of investors and building users is also in the interest of the building developer. Relationships based on mutual trust also allow for the continuous development of cooperation.

– Long-term owners expect their properties to have the longest possible life cycle, to be functional, healthy and maintenance-free, and to have low operating costs. All this is achieved in our environmentally certified log buildings.

Now is the time to build for the future

The financial and construction sectors are still facing difficult times at the beginning of 2025. The social welfare reform in Finland is still fresh and wellbeing services counties are facing funding challenges due to fiscal austerity. Despite this, Lauri encourages the care sector to build for the future now.

– The need for new, sustainable care and service buildings is huge and grows inexorably. What is needed now is courage and openness to find solutions. It pays to do so because, in a stuck situation, everyone wins when you can look beyond the challenges of the moment. This is the best time to invest in the future.
